April 29-May 3

SCHOOL DRESS CODE:
Warm weather clothing: We do not have a specific policy regarding when students can wear shorts. Please
watch the weather and dress in layers. It is normally cooler in the morning in the building and at recess.
Our specific rules say:
• All shoes MUST have backstraps. NO flip flops or other sandals without backstrap.
• Tennis shoes must be worn for recesses and Gym class.
• Tank top straps must be at least one inch wide.
• Shorts must be longer and no less than one hand-width above the knee.

Important Notes:

  • Graduation will be Wednesday May 29 from 5-6pm for those who would like to mark their calendars early!  I will be providing more information as it comes, but thank you for your timely responses in helping us pick a day.  This was the day with the least "no's" and the best we could do.  Students will be singing some songs, showing their work, receiving a certificate, and having some fun!
  • FINAL Reading with the Stars Wednesday MAY 15, 2013! Please RSVP regardless of attendance for correct amount of copies.
  • Dress for the Weather.  We go outside Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Students need coats, hats, and mittens.  If there is snow or even if it is in the 30s I would suggest snow pants and boots for warmth and dryness.  St. Edward Extended day families, these students go outside for "long recess" after lunch daily and need to be dressed for it daily.  Please come with everything they need to stay warm and have fun!
  • Even as Spring approaches, if there is snow we need your child to come in snowpants and winter gear for playing on the playground.  If they do not have the proper clothes, they will need to stand on the blacktop with the teachers.
  • Lost and Found.  Our lost and found is growing.  If you are missing something please feel free to check out the box on top of the lockers by our door, or email me and I will take a look for you!

Students worked on the life cycle of a plant with a seed, sprout, flower, and spreading seeds.  They illustrated this in a graphic organizer that also had them writing the initial sound and using those fine motor skills to draw the cycle. They turned out cute!

We are very busy working on our number books.  For each number, we put that many stickers on, draw that many pictures, and find that number in magazines or ads and glue them on.  It is going to be another cute keepsake!

IF YOU HAVE ANY EXTRA ADS, THEY WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED--ADS HAVE LOTS OF NUMBERS FOR US TO CUT OUT! :)

We also made flowers out of shapes.  Students worked hard naming the shapes, and following the multi-step directions and listening to the directional words.  they helped make our door look like it is growing a garden!

***As always, any questions or concerns please feel free to email me!  Have a great weekend!

Next week:

Theme: Flowers &Mothers' day

Numbers: 4, 5, 6
AM Snack: Zaves (we have Mon & Tues-Thank you)
PM Snack: Gorges
